January 18, 2025
Within the framework of cooperation between the Arab Parliament and the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation to support all efforts aimed at preserving and protecting the Arabic language, promoting its use among the people of the Arab world, and enhancing its presence among non-native speakers, the two parties have agreed to establish an annual award titled the "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Award for Creativity in Serving the Arabic Language." This award is dedicated to honoring the memory of the late poet Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain, motivating individuals and institutions concerned with preserving and advancing the Arabic language, and encouraging initiatives that contribute to its development, elevation, and the promotion of awareness of its importance. Additionally, the award seeks to expand the scope of its use both within the Arab world and internationally.
In pursuit of these noble objectives, a Board of Trustees for the Award has been established. This board includes representatives from the Arab Parliament, representatives from the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation, and five distinguished members from among leading academicians, experts, and professors of the Arabic language.
The Board of Trustees has announced the opening of nominations for the first cycle of the award, starting from May 15th until October 31st, 2024. The award will be presented in two categories:
1. Individual Category: Focused on "Digitalization in Service of the Arabic Language," with a prize value of forty thousand US dollars.
2. Institutional Category: Focused on "Language Planning and Policies," with a prize value of sixty thousand US dollars.
The total number of applicants for the Award reached a hundred and nine in the individual category and ten in the institutional category.
Following a thorough review of the submitted works to ensure they met the necessary eligibility criteria, the nominated works were presented to the judging committee, which is composed of members of the Board of Trustees.
The judging committee meticulously examined the nominated works and evaluated them based on established objective criteria and requisite technical standards. After deliberating on the reports submitted by its members and engaging in thorough discussions, the committee reached the following decisions:
