Obtained Master's degree in Modern Literature (Modern Qatari Literature) - Faculty of Arabic Language - Al-Azhar University - with a grade of Excellent in 1978.
Obtained Ph.D. in Modern Criticism (Modern Literary Criticism in the Arab Gulf) - Faculty of Arabic Language - Al-Azhar University (with First-Class Honors in 1981).
Worked as a teaching assistant at the College of Education, University of Qatar - Department of Arabic Language in 1975, an assistant professor at the College of Humanities and Sciences (Qatar University) in 1978, a Professor in the Department of Arabic Language - College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Qatar University) from 1981-1986, an associate professor from 1996, and a professor from 1993.
Appointed Dean of Student Affairs at Qatar University in 1988-1991.
